Senior Director, Global IP Enforcement
The candidate ‘will maintain proactive dialogue with external stakeholders including brand owners, associations, industry groups, government entities, academia and NGOs on behalf of Group, on intellectual property protection and enforcement. Will also assist in the strategic development and implementation of IPR policies, procedures, initiatives and protocols. Responsibilities: (i) Lead and maintain intellectual property enforcement and compliance, with particular focus on trademark, copyright and patent law and rights, fair use, and secondary liability; (ii) Provide counselling and leadership to business clients, global colleagues and other company stakeholders on intellectual property matters; (iii) Keep abreast of intellectual property law developments and industry best practices, and; (iv)Serve as an external ambassador for Alibaba with rights owners, associations, industry groups, government agencies focused on IPR related matters (including law enforcement), and academia. Must have experience: (i) A deep understanding of intellectual property laws and regulations, including substantial experience in anti-counterfeiting and anti-piracy related matters; (ii)15+ years practicing law, 10+ years of government experience as a prosecutor or in an IP-related role, 5+ years of public speaking experience, and 5+ years of organizing and implementing conferences, summits, and/or large-scale training events; (iii)Significant international exposure and cross-cultural understanding is essential - preference will be afforded those candidates who have engaged in IPR-related matters across several countries;(iv)Familiarity with E-Commerce business.
