Your opportunity
Advise on, reviewing and negotiating investment management agreements, investment advisory agreements and side letters with institutional investors
Providing legal support for the entire institutional client life cycle including Request for Proposal requests; onboarding; mandate changes; transitions and terminations
Advise on, reviewing and negotiating a variety of fund related (e.g., hedge funds, commingled pools, collective investment trusts) legal documents including investment management agreements, distribution related agreements as well as other asset management related agreements with clients and service providers
Provide support to Product Development, advising on various legal matters and risk and controls related to new product ideas, structures, and relevant legal issues
Provide legal support to our distribution and compliance colleagues on regulations and laws affecting our distribution activities
Assisting generally with legal issues arising with funds and investors from time to time and providing ad hoc legal advice to other internal departments
Prepare responses to audit or regulatory requests, including coordination with JHI teams to collect relevant documents and information
Assist others on the legal team with matters arising from time to time
Instruct and manage external counsel
Carry out other duties as assigned

Must have skills
Two to five years’ experience as a lawyer within a law firm or financial services company preferred
Experience with registered investment company rules and regulations preferred
JD From an accredited law school
Member in good standing of the Colorado Bar or the bar of any other state
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong negotiation skills
Ability to work independently and prioritize appropriately across a wide range of work
Strong exercise of judgment
Nice to have skills
Ability to proactively build relationships at all levels within the organization
Flexible, adaptable and keen to be involved in a wide variety of legal work
Strong professional presence with good interpersonal, team working and influencing skills

Compensation information
The base salary range for this position is $125,000 - $150,000. This range is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.

Annual Bonus Opportunity:
Position is eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus award from the profit pool.  The profit pool is funded based on Company profits.  Individual bonuses are determined based on Company, department, team and individual performance.
