Staff Attorney
Duties: The attorney will primarily provide legal advice and assistance to self-represented litigants in connection with civil cases before the District Court, including Landlord and Tenant Matters, Civil Claims, Expungement and Shielding of Records, Consumer Matters, Return of Property and Domestic Violence/Peace Orders. Staff attorneys assist self-represented litigants in drafting their pleadings and motions, preparing for trial, completing court forms, understanding court procedure and the law. Attorneys provide referrals to appropriate legal service organizations, agencies and lawyer referral services wherever appropriate. Legal services to self-represented litigants will occur via walk-in assistance, phone calls, and live chat assistance, or as requested by the Court.
