We are seeking an experienced Ruby Engineer to join Best Buy’s “Cloud and Platform – Automation Team” to grow our current and future infrastructure toolsets. Our projects range from Deployment Automation, Infrastructure Provisioning, to Self-Service functionality for Product Teams. The Tools and Processes that we support strive to provide zero downtime for Best Buy Application Teams and Customers, all while achieving the fastest, safest, and most repeatable way of doing so.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, Develop and Maintain applications, in accordance with Best Buy methodologies, technical standards, time and budget estimates.

Creating and Maintaining internal tools supporting different stages of SDLC for Software and Operation Engineers.

Seeing through a project from conception to finished product.

Collaborate with Team Members and Stakeholders of our projects.

Become a technical expert in a team focus area or project.

Provide technical direction and feedback in different stages of software development lifecycle.

End user support, including availability to be part of an on-call support rotation.

Basic Requirements

2 or more years of Ruby programming experience

Self-directed with shared collective ownership for design decisions

Uses the best tools for the job, be those open source or otherwise

Comfortable in a semi-paired programming environment

Strongly favors TDD and BDD development methodologies

Agile development with OO or functional programming

Learning and keeping up with latest trends in programming and automation patterns and practices.

Preferred Requirements:

REST web services experience

Understanding of Message Queuing, NoSQL/SQL, parallel programming concepts

Experience deploying, maintaining, and operating applications via Jenkins or other continuous integration and deployment tools

Knowledge of container technologies (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker)

Experience with any cloud platform (AWS, GCP, Azure)

Comfortable working in a shell environment.

Basic Linux system administration

Understanding of JavaScript / AngularJS.
