Contributes to strategic direction to facilitate the achievement of company goals for improved patient outcomes and superior quality standards for assigned division. Provides expertise, support and guidance to assigned operations and clinical leadership teams and staff regarding the practice of continuous Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI). Collaborates with peers and management in Education, Regulatory, Technical Services and Clinical Services in defining quality strategy and initiatives for assigned division.  Participates in the planning, implementation, coordination, evaluation and execution of quality improvement programs activities and initiatives. Lead initiatives and special projects for assigned division. Ensures optimal and effective attainment of company quality goals, policies and procedures, while adhering to the Compliance Program, and all regulatory and division policy requirements. Directs, organizes, and controls clinical quality special project management activities as needed. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Uses broad expertise, knowledge and skills to drive high quality performance by developing goals and objectives related to quality outcomes collaborating with appropriate divisional stakeholders including but not limited to Value Based Services leadership team, Operations, Education, Clinical Services and the Medical office to take the appropriate steps to ensure achievement of quality goals. Analyzes and trends quality outcomes for assigned business unit providing updates to the Medical Office and executive management team, quality and clinical operational leadership and other stakeholders as deemed necessary. Provides pertinent oversight and direction for the administration of quality management policies, standards and processes. Contributes to the development of long and short-term goals and objectives related to improvement of quality outcomes and patient safety and taking the appropriate steps to achieve the goals. Collaborates with the Chief Medical Officer and the Quality Leadership team and clinical leadership to plan, develop and execute quality improvement strategies and initiatives within assigned business unit. Builds collaborative relationships with key Medical Directors and Medical Advisory Board Members to promote quality outcomes, evidenced based and better practices and to address barriers to quality improvement. Participates in Medical Advisory Board Meetings and activities as directed. Provides guidance, interpretation and subject matter expertise to the leadership team regarding inquiries about clinical policies and procedures, clinical standards, as well as professional practice and regulatory licensing issues pertaining to quality improvement. Ensures implementation and utilization of company-wide policies, procedures and the FMCNA Quality Enhancement and Management Program (QEMP) into the facility standard operating procedures. Develops resolution to critical quality issues and matters for assigned division using experience and professional concepts.Accountable for outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers, including patients, staff, physicians, field management and staff, and payers, including disease management entities. Develops and maintains effective relationships through effective and timely communication with all customers. Utilizes quality improvement principles and methodology to evaluate the impact of quality improvement strategies and initiatives implemented in the assigned division.Responds to emergent requests from Quality Management to investigate, intervene and assist with resolution of complex issues including serious adverse events and complaints. Applies current knowledge of company clinical and administrative policies, procedures, available internal resources, CMS Conditions of Coverage for ESRD facilities and quality improvement concepts, principles and practices. Assists in the development of training programs and processes to ensure the implementation and incorporation of the company’s quality standards and the practice of Continuous Quality Improvement in facility standard procedures and that all ESRD regulatory and legal requirements are met. Mentors other staff as applicable.May provide informal leadership supervising the activities of others on projects.Performs other related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
