The candidate meets with clients and other professionals to discuss the details of the case. Gathers and analyzes research data, such as statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes, and documents. Investigates facts and laws of cases and search pertinent sources, such as public records, to determine causes of action and to prepare cases. Prepares legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, appeals, wills, contracts, and/or real estate closing statements. Prepares affidavits or other documents, such as legal correspondence, and organizes and maintains documents. Files pleadings with the court clerk. Call upon witnesses to testify at the hearing. Directs and coordinates law office activity, including delivery of subpoenas. Keeps and monitors legal volumes to ensure that the law library is up-to-date. Completes special projects as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
