Job Overview

A respected law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its insurance defense practice in Lexington, Kentucky. This full-time role provides an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney with 1-2 years of experience to advance their career in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in insurance defense cases while working with a team of experienced attorneys. Travel within the state of Kentucky is required for this position.

Duties

  • Represent clients in insurance defense matters, handling cases from start to finish.
  • Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, motions, and discovery.
  • Conduct legal research to support case strategies.
  • Attend hearings, depositions, and court proceedings as necessary.
  • Communicate with clients, experts, and other stakeholders to manage cases and provide updates.
  • Travel within Kentucky for client meetings, depositions, and court appearances.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in insurance defense or related legal practice.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and work independently while collaborating with senior attorneys.
  • Strong communication, writing, and research skills.
  • Ability to travel within Kentucky as needed (10-25% travel).
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the Kentucky State Bar or eligibility to practice in Kentucky.

Skills

  • Legal research and writing proficiency.
  • Strong drafting skills, including pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize effectively.
  • Comfortable with statewide travel for client meetings and court appearances.
