Job Description:

The Pressure Equipment Integrity (PEI) Inspectors are responsible for providing PEI assurance for an assigned operating unit. The Unit Inspector position ensures all pressure equipment is operated, inspected, maintained, modified, and repaired according to API codes and Shell standards. Equipment within the inspector’s responsibility includes pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, relief valves, and piping systems. The PEI Inspector ensures compliance with pressure equipment laws and regulations and applicable industry codes, standards, and recommended practices.

Work closely with the team to establish inspection schedules, identify corrosion threats, monitor equipment condition, analyze inspection data, and make recommendations to ensure safe operation of pressure equipment.

Provide daily run and maintain pressure integrity support for assigned operating area, including attending daily module meetings.

Provide integrity assurance with an understanding of the corrosion and degradation mechanisms in the unit. Work with the corrosion engineer and understand usage of the CCD’s for their unit.

Respond to leak events to understand cause and develop recommendations to prevent recurrence.

Writes Corrective Action Inspection Requests (CAIR’s) for Maintenance to carry out pressure equipment repairs.

Document Inspections and associated repair work in the Web Integrity Management System wIMS.

Assure that inspection records are current, accurate, and comply with applicable regulations, codes, and Shell procedures.

Have a good working knowledge or pressure integrity requirements and know when to seek specialist advice and assistance.

Maintain API certifications for vessel, piping, and tank inspection

Provide assistance to the PEI turnaround Planning inspector.

Requirements:

Must have legal authorization to work in the USA on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

At least High school diploma or equivalent.

With at least five (5) years experience as a unit run and maintain inspector in a Refinery or Petrochemical industry; other similar manufacturing facility are considered.

Experience involving stationary equipment (piping, vessels, tanks, etc.) is a plus.

Must have API 510 and 570 certificates; API 653 is an advantage.

Familiarity with risk-based inspection methodology and application.

Possess a good understanding of NDE techniques and applications (UT, RT, PT, AUT, PAUT)

Strong organizational and documentation skills.

Proven ability to self-manage multiple complex work processes by setting priorities and making decisions.

Work well in the department team with the willingness to step out as a leader to take on tough decisions and the ability to deliver difficult news.
