The candidate will perform all risk management activities in the Medical Center, which include: coordination of litigation; reviewing and responding to litigation status reporting from outside counsel; evaluating and providing advice on litigation strategy for individual claims; assisting with and making recommendations for the development of global litigation strategies, insurance claims and coverages, staff educational programs; conduct oversight of defense counsel, investigations of claims against the facility, interfacing with defense and in-house counsel. Will be developing and implementing a program that measures the effectiveness of the risk management program; developing and implementing a mechanism to provide regular reporting that measures the risk management's program effectiveness; interfacing and collaborating with quality and patient safety departments to identify safety issues associated with professional liability claims and adverse events with the objectives of driving improvement in overall safety and controlling and minimizing the institution's financial loss due to claims against it.
