Summary of Position:

 The Supply & Distribution Supervisor

oversees all daily supply operation functions and courier services for all departments of Barton Health, excluding perioperative services. This position works with and supports staff in the completion of the tasks and is the department contact for daily operations, call-ins, and workload completion. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the work is completed in accordance with JCAHO and government regulations. In the absence of the Director, the Supervisor is responsible for the management and decision process for the department.

Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent education/experience required

College-level coursework in business preferred

Experience:

Minimum of five years recent experience in Materials Management, Supply Chain Management and/or Purchasing and Distribution which includes using a computerized materials management information system; Healthcare specific highly preferred

Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.

Previous experience using Materials Management Information System software preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills including intermediate or better experience in Microsoft Excel

In compliance with patient safety standards, must be able to effectively communicate in English; Bilingual abilities preferred

Knowledge of Supply Chain practices, policies and procedures required.

Working knowledge of Anti-kickback and Stark Laws.

Working knowledge of accounting and general ledger principles required.

Knowledge of applicable state and local sales tax laws preferred.

Knowledge of medical terminology and product specifications preferred.

Certifications/Licensure:

Certified Materials and Resource Professional (CMRP), Purchasing Manager (CPM), Purchasing Professional (CPP) Professional Purchasing Manager (CPPM) or Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (APP) preferred.

Normal office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate while in the office.

Occasional travel to various health system locations.

Essential Functions

Provides consistently exceptional care at all times.

Supervises all daily supply operation functions of assigned departments including courier operations.

Coordinates physical inventory of all asset and expense locations.

Responsible for input and maintenance of new supplies in the Materials Management Information System (MMIS).

Prepares and maintains records of activities related to all supply and inventory control activities.

Maintains stock inventory in accordance with standards established by policy and the Director of Supply Chain Management.

Manages the stock reorder process and insures correct ordering of inventory items.

Ensures that all medical supplies are current and removes outdated or obsolete supplies in accordance with Barton’s policies and procedures.

Provides training to clinical staff of proper use of automated materials management and supply systems.

Responsible for the management and decision process in the absence of the Director.

Governs supply chain duties for product recalls of assigned departments. 

Responsible for Human Resources functions for assigned staff including evaluations, disciplinary actions, scheduling and timesheets.

Manages routine medical equipment cleaning operations used in assigned areas. Including all supply chain activities related to adult and pediatric code cart maintenance.

Responds to the needs of the department by performing other duties, as necessary
