Director of Professional Development And Training
The candidate reports to the Director of Human Resources (“HR”), acting as the primary resource to provide advanced, comprehensive programs that develops, trains, and mentors the firm's professional staff talent. Collaborates with other departments including Information Systems, Operations, and Finance to provide excellent programs to professional staff employees of all levels. Develops a comprehensive professional staff training and development strategy to support professional staff across levels and offices. Designs, delivers, and executes on all aspects of professional staff training and development across all offices, to include managerial, critical thinking, engagement, and business skills training, as well as ad hoc specialized programs. Works closely with Managing Directors to conduct analyses regarding departmental training needs. Monitors current market trends and best practices in professional services staff development and training, and implements new programs – as appropriate – that are both thoughtful and innovative. Carefully identifies and engages with external consultants and trainers, as needed, to supplement internal programs and resources. Incorporates relevant online training programs, as appropriate, for continued learning and development, aligning to professional staff at various levels of their career. Develops and leads senior professional staff meetings/retreats. Plans and moderates departmental staff talent reviews on a regular basis. Evaluates annual staff evaluation processes and feedback models; delivers ongoing training to harbor successful conversations and talent management. Works with the Director of Employee Relations to deliver sessions on regulatory and compliance training, as well as coaching, related to employee relations. Training and guidance includes, but is not limited to, performance management, effective communication, particularly in highly sensitive situations. Partners with the Director of Diversity & Engagement to deliver sessions related to cultural competencies and differences impacting DE&I. Develops and maintains an annual budget for professional development initiatives and training; manages reporting and variance analysis, and manages external training contracts. Leads and/or participates in firm-wide initiatives as requested. Should have 5-7 years of related experience, preferably with a law firm or professional services organization.
