Compliance Analyst
Duties: Under the direction of the Chief Audit & Compliance Officer, is primarily responsible for assisting PSD Department Chairs, Executive Administrators and others in evaluating proposed personal industry contracts with employed individuals for compliance with the Policy on Conflicts of Interest and Interactions between Representatives of Certain Industries and Faculty, Staff and Students of the Schools of the Health Sciences an Personnel Employed at all Domestic Locations (aka the Industry Relationships Policy). Responsible for assisting in the review of conflict of interest issues and other compliance related matters. Develop through understanding of University joint policy and implementation of policy on relationships with industry. Maintain close and functioning relationships with other individuals of the University who share responsibility for the management of the joint Industry Relationships Policy to ensure across-the-board consistency and non-duplication of effort in the following activities. Provide compliance review at the request of the PSD Department Chairs, Executive Administrators and Others of contracts and agreements such as physician consulting agreements / contract, advisory board agreements, speaker bureau agreements, editor agreements, speaking agreements, travel agreement, etc. with External Organizations or Industry for compliance with University Industry Relationships Policy. Organize and deliver presentations about Conflict of Interest and other compliance topics. Review and provide feedback to department management regarding information disclosed on Conflict of Interest forms. Liaison with UPMC Legal, SoM, Medical and Health Sciences Foundation and OSPRS for related matters. Facilitate and help analyze Conflict of Interest Reporting. Assist in planning, developing and conducting educational and training sessions related to specific compliance topics including updating and maintaining training modules. In consultation with university legal counsel, analyze relevant conflict of interest laws, regulations, and policies to ensure that university is in compliance. Obtain and file fully executed copy of the agreements for COI reporting. Maintains share point or other related sites. Occasional contact with representatives of outside Industry regarding institutional guidelines for consulting agreement issues, as well as develop acceptable contract templates to be used system-wide for faculty consulting agreements. Communicate findings to the requestor and department leadership. Provide compliance review industry support agreements for educational activities and fellowships. Prepare written feedback to department management regarding compliance of individual relationships with relevant industry. Facilitate resolution of non-compliant terms to requestor and department. Assist with monitoring and reporting on conflict management plans.
