Director of Development
Duties: To serve as a development officer on the gift planning team in the University Development Office, providing guidance to donors, prospects and their advisors, and University colleagues, on planned giving strategies and techniques for completing charitable gifts to the University. Collaboratively work with other Development staff or college/school personnel and volunteers to identify relationship networking, linkage, giving ability, and interest of prospective donors. Participate in a minimum number of visits (80) annually while also cultivating potential prospects for the purpose of developing strategies and for future solicitation. Document results of all substantive contacts with potential donors for team lead review and critique. Provide analysis and make recommendations regarding the strategies to be utilized in the solicitation of funds from planned gift prospects. Ask for gifts and personally, often as part of a team, or facilitate asking of donor prospects by influential individuals such as volunteers and academic leaders. Represent the University Development Office, college, or school before a variety of individuals and groups providing information concerning fundraising activities and programs. Enlist the assistance of faculty, colleagues, and university staff, as required in researching of potential prospects, preparing and implementing proposals. Participate in education workshops on gift planning to university-wide development colleagues, planning for special events, and marketing of planned gifts.
