The Department of Music at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor of Music
beginning Fall 2023. Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching, research, student advisement, college service, and continuing professional development.
The Department of Music at SUNY Oneonta, offering BA Music and BA Music Industry degrees, is a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and has long been recognized for its Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry degree program. Identified as one of the Top Music Business Schools in the US by Billboard Magazine in 2020 and 2022, the program features outstanding faculty, recording facilities, and internships. : Teaching undergraduate courses in production, songwriting, and in the general music and music industry curricula; involvement with the curriculum and administration of the music program generally, and audio arts program specifically; working with studio assistants and the instructional support technician supporting the department. Other duties may include music electives or courses that address other curricular needs or the candidate's specific areas of expertise.
Salary:

Required Qualifications:
Terminal degree at time of appointment in music, audio, media or related fields of study.
Two or more years of relevant professional experience in popular music production (e.g., studio recording contexts), songwriting, extensive experience with Pro Tools and recording equipment (including mixers, microphones etc.)
Proficiency in other leading Digital Audio Workstations, such as Ableton Live, Logic, Reaper, and FL Studio.
Two or more years of successful experience teaching at the college/university, conservatory, or specialized music school level.
Preferred:
International experience in popular music production, popular music songwriting, or popular music media production.
Background in music performance and knowledge of a wide range of contemporary music styles/genres.
Teaching and/or scholarly/creative experience related to gender and women's studies, the African or Latino Diasporas, or Indigenous Studies.
Creative or professional experience with beat production software and hardware and/or object-oriented programming environments such as Python and MaxMSP.
Creative or professional experience with live sound.
Experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or service with diverse and/or multicultural populations.
Also Considered:
Experience teaching undergraduate courses in World Music.
