Legal Assistant II-Public Defender
The candidate will be responsible to provide clerical, data entry/retrieval and related support functions. May also research and prepare information/documents as needed for court proceedings and provide other clerical support functions as needed. Pull and/or re-file case files for Court; prepare and maintain confidential client related records and collate information; review chronological case histories; make and maintain accurate notes on client files; obtain background information to complete and set up new client files; answers telephone, take detailed messages from public to forward to various attorneys. Must have High school diploma or GED plus with up to 18 months additional education. Paralegal training and bilingual skills (English/Spanish) is highly preferred. Should have 1 - 2 years of experience in office setting; legal experience is very helpful. Should be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; possesses excellent organizational skills.
