Job Overview
A well-established law firm in Houston is seeking an Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join its dynamic immigration practice. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth and development in immigration law. The successful candidate will have the chance to work closely with a collaborative team of attorneys and legal assistants while gaining valuable experience in a variety of immigration matters, including removal defense, family-based petitions, and USCIS applications.

Duties

  • Provide legal advice and strategic solutions for clients in immigration-related matters.
  • Represent individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals, both in detained and non-detained settings.
  • Manage a diverse caseload of immigration matters, ensuring efficient case progression and client satisfaction.
  • Conduct client intake and interviews, particularly with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare and submit immigration applications, including but not limited to removal defense, family-based petitions, and naturalization.
  • Review and revise immigration application packets, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on immigration law updates.
  • Meet with clients to discuss their immigration cases and develop strategies for successful outcomes.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court hearings or USCIS interviews.
  • Draft and file legal briefs for a range of immigration cases.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven track record of managing legal caseloads and progressing cases efficiently.
  • Familiarity with Family-Based Petitions, EOIR, Detained, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Proficiency in Case Management Software is a plus.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in the state of Texas.

Certifications

  • Must be licensed to practice law in Texas.
