Kennedys is looking for a Business Development Executive/Advisor to join our Business Development team based in Sydney. The Business Development Executive/Advisor provides support for the pursuit of new business, practice and client development activities across Kennedys' Australian offices. This involves utilising and maintaining the tools, systems and processes for client relationship management and practice development.
You will work under the direction of the BD & Marketing Manager APAC as part of a small team and autonomously as needed, with partners and lawyers in Sydney and Melbourne. Regardless of where the role is based, the remit is national and all team members are expected to operate on a firm-wide basis.
This is a busy, varied, hands-on role for a capable, experienced BD professional who enjoys a small team environment and wants to build their career in services marketing.
Kennedys global Business Development team promotes Kennedys services and supports the firm's global growth ambition and our key clients and markets. In Australia, the BD function supports the strategic and tactical activities of Kennedys, and plays an active role in wider initiatives and campaigns in Asia Pacific and globally. The Australian BD team works as part of the global BD team, having presence in six countries.
You will work as part of a small team and autonomously as needed, to support our teams in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth - including occasional interstate travel as required. Regardless of where the role is based, the remit is national and all team members are expected to operate on a firm-wide basis.
Maintain a schedule of client relationship team meetings and plans, including tracking progress against plan and recording insights in Interaction
Support the firm's global client relationship management program by coordinating local office participation in global and regional client ,development activities reporting and events
Help organise key client events, briefings and hospitality
Help organise and support practice development initiatives including fee earner business planning
Maintain the SLA repository /intranet including client rates agreements
Update and monitor client contact lists to improve focus on key relationship targets and ROI
Monitor media and other sourced for relevant client intelligence
Assist with the production and submission of Directory submissions and Awards
Helping to write and produce high quality, tailored capability documents and team sheets for specific client opportunities
Assisting with the drafting and production of major RFTs and procurement-led tenders in Australia as well as providing input to UK/Global bids
Maintaining Australian content in the global pursuits text library
Maintain the firm's Master CV library, Expertise inventory and pursuit library
Recording and tracking pursuit opportunities in Interaction
Providing 'overflow and backup support' during peak times for example for major client events and campaigns
Assisting with BD presentations and report production.

UK/Global BD team members particularly APAC colleagues
Relevant degree or tertiary/vocational qualifications with 3 yrs work experience in a corporate environment
Strong project management and planning skills, ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities
Strong writing and editing skills, adaptable to various applications with excellent eye for detail
Organised, methodical and deadline/output focused
Flexible and adaptable, comfortable with change
Strategic and pragmatic approach to stakeholder management
Enthusiastic and optimistic attitude; good sense of humour
Creative approach to meeting challenges and opportunities
Collaborative, hands-on approach, team player
Previous experience in a professional services environment desirable
Experience using common marketing communications applications and platforms - Vuture, Umbraco CMS, MS Office applications, Interaction (or equivalents).
