Senior Counsel US Employment

The candidate provides strategic analysis, advice and counsel on U.S. labor and employment matters to HR and business leaders in support of the business goals of the Company. Ensures compliance with U.S. labor & employment legal principles, including supporting such issues as reorganizations, M&A activity, litigation management, government audits/reviews, compliance issues, policies & practices, etc. Stays abreast of changes in the legal regulatory environment, works with HR to improve investigatory processes and outcomes, and takes other proactive steps to mitigate risk. Provides oversight and strategic direction for labor & employment related litigation in the U.S. Provides miscellaneous legal advice in connection with U.S. employment matters, benefit matters, policy drafting and interpretation, plant closures/reorganizations/redundancies, compensation matters, hiring practices, basic immigration matters, etc. Effectively manage cost of external legal support. Provides timely and effective legal solutions covering all legal practice areas across a broad range of commercial activities, plant operations and corporate functions including drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, reviewing communications, and drafting legal guidelines for business. Law degree from an excellent accredited law school. Bar qualifications to practice in at least 1 U.S. State. Should have 7-10 years of relevant experience. Proven and effective HR and Benefits legal support. In house experience with a multi-national manufacturing company is strongly preferred. Strong focus on simple and effective problem-solving to achieve business objectives. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent team player and relationship builder.
