Associate General Counsel
Duties: Provide a wide variety of legal support services for our corporate headquarters and wholly owned properties. Responsibilities will be focused on litigation management and support, case planning, pre-claim management and litigation avoidance, managing outside counsel, including monitoring legal spend, overseeing and monitoring risk issues, regular updates to senior management on cases and issues, some limited contract drafting/dispute advice, processing subpoenas, risk-related advice, and general legal consultation and advisory services. Additionally, will require supervisory responsibilities over limited staff supporting the role/function. Assist with litigation avoidance and support for Company’s disputes. Remain informed of industry-specific laws and regulations and ensure that appropriate risk management strategies are in place. Oversee and manage outside counsel work product and fees. Analyze cases for appropriate settlement recommendations. Provide advice related to pre-claim investigation and management. Work closely with operations and risk management to build policies and practices that balance operational needs with litigation avoidance. Issue-specific legal research. Initial case assessments and, where appropriate, assign to outside counsel. Summarize cases for Executives and General Managers. Reviewing pleadings, motions, and discovery responses. Coordinate and attend witness interviews, depositions, and site inspections with counsel and experts. Review Quarterly Report reviews for all litigated cases. Review and handle complex subpoenas. Oversee and supervise litigation support staff. Assist with Gaming/Licensing documents and reporting. Limited contract review on specific matters. Provide general support for General Counsel on legal matters for the company. Consult with management, and various departments on legal matters impacting Company’s assets, legal requirements, rights and liabilities.
