The Clinical Strategy and Practice Lead will play a key role in this organizational transformation, working with senior clinical and non-clinical leaders to support the design, development, and implementation of strategies aimed at strengthening, elevating, and improving the experience of our clinical associates.

Responsibilities

Role Description

The Clinical Strategy and Practice Lead will provide professional expertise and support in the design, development and implementation of strategies that support two key work streams:

Physician Community

- Humana currently employs nearly 700 physicians trained in 40 specialties, and distributed across nearly every segment. The Clinical Strategy and Practice Lead will work with the Deputy Chief Medical Officer to improve the physician experience at Humana by:

Support, engage, and drive the activities of the Humana Physician Collaborative. The Humana Physician Collaborative brings together these associates and, through its advisory groups and sub-committees, shape the strategy and execution of initiatives aimed at improving the physician experience at Humana.

Work with members of the Physician Collaborative to develop, refine, and implement strategy across four key focus areas: 1) Community Building and Engagement, 2) Growth, Development, and Advancement, 3) Health and Well-being, and 4) Inter-professional Collaboration

Serve as the principal liaison to the HR community for programs, processes, and initiatives aimed at talent management and experience for physicians

Collect, analyze, and maintain data gathered to inform targeted leadership development (e.g., succession planning)

Manage the maintenance and execution of the performance management system, including current job descriptions, standards of performance and performance evaluation instruments

Supervise the administrative support of the above activities

Inter-Professional Clinical Community

- In addition to directly supporting the activities of the Physician Collaborative, the Clinical Strategy and Practice Lead will also have a central role in coordinating across clinical communities (Nursing Collaborative, Pharmacy Community, Social Services Collaborative) and lines of business (Retail, Clinical Solutions, PCO, Home/Kindred) to increase efforts at inter-professional community building and broader clinical associate experience. Working with the Deputy CMO, the Chief Nursing Officer, and Humana Pharmacy leaders, the Clinical Strategy and Practice Lead will:

Work in concern with Leads of other clinical communities to develop and execute on efforts to connect across our clinical communities of practice through a focus on culture and engagement, common areas of interest and best practice sharing, such as talent, retention, growth, and engagement

Work across the HR ecosystem to ensure that organization-wide talent management and performance initiatives targeting clinicians are focused and aligned on improving operational and program efficiencies and effectiveness

Required Skills/Abilities:

Bachelor's Degree

5 years of experience in change management, HR, associate engagement, associate well-being

Familiar with Organizational design, behavior and/or change management

Experience conceiving and executing strategies to improve associate experience and/or engagement

Deep empathy with the needs of clinical associations and desire to improve the experience of clinicians

Excellent interpersonal, counseling, coaching and negotiation skills

Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and with cross-functional stakeholders

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong and strategic business relationships

Superior verbal and written communication skills

High self-initiative, commitment and follow through

Detail oriented and driven by results

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

Experience working with Humana's clinical communities (physicians, nurses, social services, pharmacists, etc.)

Knowledge of Humana's talent management, performance management, associate experience, and well-being initiatives

Experience working directly with, or supporting, physicians in both care delivery (e.g. primary care) or non-care delivery (e.g. utilization management) environments

For this job, associates are required to be fully COVID vaccinated or undergo weekly COVID testing and wear a face covering while at work. The weekly testing will need to be done through an approved Humana vendor, and unvaccinated associates should follow all social distancing and masking protocols if they are required to come into a Humana facility or work outside of their home.
