Payroll and Benefit Specialist

The candidate will be responsible for entering, maintaining, and/or processing information in the HRIS for labor reports, bi-weekly payroll, and benefits administration. Assist with the administration and open enrollment periods for all benefits and retirement programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, STD, LTD, FSA, and 401(k) plan. Process documentation related to disability, leave of absence (medical, personal, disability, and FMLA), and employee life status changes. Respond to inquiries regarding payroll, retirement, and benefits from staff in a professional manner and assist them with issues, claims, life changes, and contributions. Work with the Firm’s Compliance Attorney to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Assist with annual performance reviews. Maintain and administer programs associated with company morale, reward programs, and volunteer opportunities. Provide administrative support to the Human Resources Department. Other duties as assigned. Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field required. Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check. Should have 2-5 years of experience in Human Resources, payroll, and benefits preferred; excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines; ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. Should be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software; proficient with or ability to quickly learn HRIS software; ability to work for prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
