SUMMARY

Bering Straits Development Company, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking a qualified

Rental Vehicle Manager

for Aurora Inn in Nome, Alaska. 

We are looking for a Rental Vehicle Manager to lead our team of front desk staff and ensure we provide excellent customer service.  You will help in the development and direction of the hotel staff and assist in overseeing the day-to-day operational activities for this location.  

Under the direction of the Hotel Property Manager, you will help to encourage a positive team environment and aid in the development of sales skills for our agents through training, coaching, motivating and example setting.  Ultimately, you will help ensure that our daily vehicle operations run smoothly and that guests and employees are satisfied.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Overseeing the day-to-day operational activities of the rental fleet

Manage the rental vehicle business the booking systems and checking in and out of rental vehicles

Motivate team members and resolve any issues that occur on the job                                                                             

You will be effectively communicating with customers, responding to all customer inquiries and concerns in a professional and friendly manner both on the telephone and in person                                                               

Ensure the highest levels of customer experience for all guests   

Work a variety of scheduled shifts, including mid-shifts, evenings and weekends  

Ensure effective damage reporting to minimize unnecessary repair  

Strong leadership and effective communication skills and be able to motivate and  encourage good team work

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum) Qualifications

Must have a clean driving record and have held a license for at least 2 years

Stamina to handle the physical demands of the job for example: occasional lifting and carrying 40 lbs

Must have a High school diploma.  Secondary Educations is a plus

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

Excellent organizational and team management skills

Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends

Exhibit the ability to teach, lead and discipline others in a friendly and courteous manner.

Preferred

Work experience as a Rental Vehicle Manager or similar role

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Job is performed in a front desk setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Hires and supervises direct reports.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
