Title IX Investigation Program Coordinator

The candidate works under the direction of the Equal Opportunity and Diversity Officer, to ensure compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 Civil Rights Act (“Title IX”) and other related federal and state laws. Responsible for supporting and conducting investigations of Title IX complaints of sexual harassment, including claims of gender discrimination and participates in training initiatives to address relevant regulations and policies. Through a well-documented and thorough investigation process, the incumbent assists with the coordination, response, investigation, resolution of reports/complaints asserting violations of the University’s Harassment, Discrimination and Sexual Harassment policy. Works closely with the Equal Opportunity and Diversity Officer, Dean of Students office, Public Safety and other departments across the University as necessary to resolve complaints and ensure that the University’s processes, responses and policies are consistent with federal and state laws. Collaborate and consults with the Equal Opportunity and Diversity Officer regularly to monitor and manage Title IX incidents/complaints to ensure an efficient and effective response to reports and complaints. Serves as the initial review for the routine to moderately complex complaints of employee and/or third parties related Title IX sexual harassment complaints including harassment based gender, gender identity and gender expression. Escalate highly complex complaints to the Equal Opportunity and Diversity Officer when appropriate. Meets with assigned complainants, respondents and witnesses to provide information regarding the University’s complaint process (formal and informal), available resources, and interim measures. Interview the impacted party, respondent, and relevant witnesses. Gather relevant evidence. Act as a neutral party through all aspects of investigation and ensure a prompt, fair, and neutral process for all parties. Maintain a high level of confidentiality during all proceedings. Creates comprehensive written investigation reports that clearly identify the issues investigated, identify all relevant university policies, summaries all relevant evidence and provides clear findings. Maintain accurate and thorough records and notes of investigatory process. Create comprehensive written investigative reports for the Equal Opportunity and Diversity Officer that clearly identify the issues investigated, summarize the evidence, make findings under University policy, and recommend appropriate remedial steps. Provide periodic, timely updates regarding the status of complaints received and investigations in progress to the Equal Opportunity and Diversity Officer. Conducts informal review of complaints when appropriate and in accordance with University policy. Supports the Equal Opportunity and Diversity Officer with Title VII investigations. Assist Equal Opportunity and Diversity Officer with the implementation of a case management database to organize, manage, and track all Title IX incidents. Maintain the case management database and produce reports using the database. Track, trends and reports, and addresses systematic problems relating to complaints. Continuously identify and integrate best practices in the Title IX investigation arena into knowledge base and practice. Create and facilitate training/presentations to students/student groups and employees regarding the university’s nondiscrimination policies and identifying and integrating best practices into the complaint resolution process. Assist the Equal Opportunity and Diversity Officer and Title IX Coordinator with the development and implementation of a comprehensive University Title IX training program for students, faculty, and staff. Stay abreast of regulations and statutes relating to gender-based violence, including but not limited to Title IX, Clery, and VAWA. Serves on University committees as requested. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
