Data Privacy Officer
The candidate will oversee and implement the firm’s global data privacy program. Cross-functional role working collaboratively with Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Compliance, and Human Resources teams. Responsible for keeping the firm up to date with applicable data and privacy rules and regulations at the country, federal, state and/or local levels for each entity. Assist with the mapping of data access, transfers, and use. Participate in the onboarding of new systems and vendors that handle or impact the firm’s data. Negotiate vendor and third-party agreements regarding data access, transfer and use. Develop, implement, and monitor data retention policies and procedures. Partner with the firm’s Cybersecurity department on investigations, cyber incidents and responses, data protection systems and infrastructure. Work closely with outside legal counsel on data and privacy programs. Participate in response efforts to the client, vendor and other third-party questionnaires or surveys. Update privacy notices and disclosures on the website, intranet, and employee manuals. Handle data and privacy aspects for expansion projects and organization growth globally. A Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited institution. Should have 5 years of relevant privacy and regulatory experience practicing at a law firm, investment bank or other financial services company. GDPR and CCPA/CPRA (CA rules) expertise. International experience is highly preferred. Superior verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines. Strong commitment to providing responsible, timely, and top-quality client service with superior work products. Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments.
