Associate Underwriting Counsel

The candidate will examine title searches or Abstract reports for the preparation of Commitments for Title Insurance. Prepares appropriate write-ups for commitments and policies with extended coverage. Utilizes underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits, to underwrite the issuance of title insurance. Provides underwriting support, counsel, and authorization to company personnel and customer(s), related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies. Properly prices commitments, endorsements, policies and guarantees using appropriate schedule of fees and charges. Interprets earnest money, escrow and purchase agreements as they relate to closing and prepare all documents required for transactions, including settlement statements. Prepares and completes transaction documents by completing forms and statements; collecting; reviewing existing documents; assembling documents; explaining provisions and procedures; answering questions; checking documents for completeness and accuracy; and obtaining signatures. Completes calculations of Maryland recording taxes based on multistate/multijurisdictional transactions. Participates in business development activities to maintain existing clients and acquire new clients.
