The candidate will draft and negotiate sponsorship, promotional rights and licensing agreements in support of the commercial business of MLS and Soccer United Marketing. Advise league and club clients on marketing, branding, and advertising promotions and initiatives. Support League and clubs on intellectual property matters, including trademark and copyright prosecution, maintenance, and enforcement. Draft and negotiate agency, services, venue, vendor and technology/software agreements supporting the promotion and marketing of professional soccer. Provide strategic legal advice to business teams regarding data collection and processing and privacy compliance. Work cross-functionally to identify risks and provide strategic, practical and creative legal guidance. Perform special projects and other assignments as requested. 4 or more years of experience at a leading law firm and/or corporate legal department with relevant experience required. Bachelor’s Degree and JD required. Outstanding written and oral business communication skills required. Strong drafting and negotiating skills required. Experience with commercial transactions, including licensing, talent, branding and promotions required. Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail, necessary to support and advise business units and ensure projects are completed in a timely and effective manner required. Ability to make timely, nuanced recommendations for business decisions based on reasoned legal analysis and the strategic objectives of the organization required.
