Associate General Counsel
The candidate will act as primary legal advisor for product, engineering, and operations teams. Provide and coordinate legal advice across complex and multifaceted legal issues such as data protection and privacy, intermediary liability, consumer protection, security, e-commerce, payments, integrity and other global legal frameworks applicable to company. Collaborate with subject matter experts to analyze and communicate legal risks to the business. Coordinate with public policy, communications, product management, product marketing, trust and safety, and other cross-functional teams on external communications, policy development, and product development and launches. Drive coordination with other members of the Legal team. Travel domestically and internationally as required. Should have J.D. degree or equivalent, and membership in at least one state bar. Should have 8+ years of combined law firm and/or in-house experience with internet or technology companies. Should have experience with product or regulatory counseling related to the above subject areas. Experience successfully taking on projects involving unfamiliar subject matters, and working effectively with cross-functional teams. Interpersonal skills with a commitment to professionalism and collegiality. Experience supporting a global team at a messaging services provider or other Internet services and technology company is preferred. Demonstrated experience working on multiple projects is preferred.
