Job Overview:

A law firm seeks an experienced Employment Litigation Attorney to join its Portland, OR office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment litigation, particularly in California, and a proven track record of handling complex cases, including class actions and single-plaintiff actions. This role involves comprehensive responsibilities, from evaluating claims to preparing cases for arbitration and trial.

Duties:

• Assist in all aspects of litigation, including class, collective, and PAGA actions, as well as single-plaintiff cases.
• Evaluate claims and develop strategies for mediation, arbitration, and trial.
• Handle depositions, engage in motion practice, and prepare for and take cases to arbitration and trial.
• Manage administrative charge work, including preparing position statements.
• Represent clients in employment-related disputes, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and leave interference claims.
• Draft and review employment policies as needed.
• Counsel employers on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Conduct thorough legal research and prepare detailed legal documents and correspondence.
• Engage in effective communication and public speaking as necessary.

Requirements:

• Active membership in the California State Bar.
• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in employment litigation within California, including handling wage and hour class, collective, or PAGA actions.
• Substantial experience with discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and leave interference claims (preferably representing management).
• Proven experience handling charges before the EEOC and similar state or local agencies.
• Preferred experience drafting employment policies and counseling employers on compliance with employment laws.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active California State Bar membership.
