Staff Attorney, State Regulatory and Compliance

The candidate will report to the Associate General Counsel and perform duties as assigned. Provide legal support and assistance to the Certificate of Need (“CON”) program, including closely communicating and coordinating with other departments, including Development, Operations, Quality, Real Estate, and Reimbursement and with outside legal counsel and consultants with respect to CON matters. Monitor, research, summarize, analyze, and help to ensure compliance with all proposed and current state laws and regulations affecting the company and its healthcare facilities and operations. Provide support for internal state and local regulatory matters through research, analysis and coordination with the company’s Compliance Department, as well as Operations, Quality, Development, Real Estate, Reimbursement, Governmental Affairs and other departments. Provide legal support and assistance with the Company’s internal Certificate of Need application and approval process. Remain abreast of legal and regulatory developments related to health care, including requirements impacting hospital quality, operational and contract issues and provides advice to the company and hospital management regarding such issues. Draft, review, edit and negotiate a variety of contracts requested by the company and hospital management. Provide analysis and counsel on legal and policy issues, as needed. Anticipate and guard against legal risks facing the company. Develop and recommend company policy and position on legal issues. Conduct and coordinate research into a variety of legal issues as assigned. Write, review, and edit reports, opinions, correspondence, articles, and other documents. Maintain and improve legal skills and knowledge through coursework, periodicals, and other sources. Network with co-workers to share best practices.
