Staff Attorney
The candidate to advise on corporate legal matters, including employment, tax, insurance, and antitrust law. Additional duties may include reviewing, analyzing, and advising on regulatory, legislative, and legal matters impacting the trucking industry. Should have JD degree from an accredited law school. Must have 3-5 years progressive legal experience. Experience in several of the subject matter areas important to corporate law and association management (antitrust, contract, tax, insurance, corporate governance, corporate compliance, intellectual property, data protection, privacy, and employment law) is preferred. Familiarity with trucking industry practices and experience in several of the subject matter areas important to trucking (e.g. tax, administrative, labor, and transportation law) a plus. Must have demonstrated ability in appropriate legal skills (e.g., legal analysis, research, and writing), excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to state technically difficult material simply and clearly. Must have consensus-building skills to assert positions strongly without alienating internal clients.A working knowledge of federal and state legislative process a plus. Must be member in good standing of the bar of at least one state (licenses to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia and District of Columbia preferred).
