DESCRIPTIONS OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The IT Lead β Applications ensures operational excellence throughout the Technology Applications section of the Houston Airport System (HAS) by providing technology systems and information that enhance the passenger experience and empowers the Houston Airports to meet its mission and vision. The IT Lead - Applications leads a team that designs, develops and supports an enterprise data warehouse built on AWS with multiple cloud technologies including AWS EC2, S3, VPC, and API Gateway. This position supports data engineering technologies to include Redshift, Lambda, Python, SQL, Glue/SSIS, and Tableau/Power BI. The IT Lead β Applications coordinates and supports HAS and airline customers to run team scrum meetings and implement technical solutions that align with expectations for growth/expansion. This position must also consider federal and international privacy requirements and regulations. Must be able to pass a criminal background check, obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances where required
The IT Professional - Applications duties include but are not limited to:
Functions as technical lead with limited supervisory responsibilities. Plans, organizes and assigns work for the team. Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations and providing technical guidance; coaching, mentoring. Provides input to manager regarding team member performance evaluations and disciplinary action. Contributes to the development of policies, procedures, and productivity standards. Assists manager with recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training team members; maintains a safe, secure, and discrimination-free work environment; developing team member personal growth opportunities. Establishes team goals that support organizational objectives by gathering pertinent business, financial, service, and operations information; identifying and evaluating trends and options; choosing a course of action; defining objectives; evaluating outcomes.
Completes operations by developing team schedules, assigning and monitoring work; gathering resources; implementing productivity and customer service standards; resolving operations problems; maintaining reference on-line manuals and implementing new procedures and processes. Controls expenditures by gathering and submitting budget information; scheduling expenditures; monitoring variances; implementing corrective actions. Delivers high performance by enforcing performance, quality, and customer service standards.
Maintains customer service standard by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures. Completes customer service operational requirements by scheduling and assigning team members; following up on work results. Maintains quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards; analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems; identifying trends; recommending system requirements. Assess customer satisfaction with services by designing and implementing satisfaction surveys; analyzing and interpreting results.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results and performing related responsibilities as needed.
There are occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less-than-optimal temperature and air conditions. The position may involve dealing with modestly unpleasant situations, as with occasional exposure to office chemicals and/or extensive use of a video display terminal. There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions. Skilled technician in a hands-on environment and may have on-call responsibilities and rotating shifts. Ability to pass and maintain federal security clearances. Requires the ability to make closely coordinated eye/hand movements within very fine tolerance and/or calibration demands.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management and Information Systems (MIS) or a closely related field.
Information systems-specific technical certifications may be substituted for 1 year of either the education or the experience requirement, as applicable. Related professional Information Systems experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
At least six (6) years of technology experience supporting applications.
A Master's degree in Computer Science, Management and Information Systems (MIS) or a closely related field may be substituted for two years of the experience requirement.
Preferences will be given to candidates with experience with the following: AWS Redshift, AWS Lambda, AWS Glue, Python, CI/CD, SSIS or other ETL tools, Tableau or Power BI, Relational Databases(SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL), and NoSQL Databases (Cassandra, MongoDB, DyanmoDB. A valid drivers license is a plus.

Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
