Job Details:

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday including holidays.

Hours: 6:30 am until 4:30 pm and averages 40 hrs per week.

Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

Candidates must reside within the current recruitment area to include the following counties: In Arkansas – Benton County; In Oklahoma – Adair, Cherokee, Craig, Delaware or Mayes County.

Candidates with agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.

Successful applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. Vaccine verification will be required by October 1, 2021 for Corporate based team members and by November 1, 2021 for facility based team members.

Starting Wage: $16.45

Plus, additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for collecting semen and inseminating hens in chicken houses. Inspecting semen to determine quality and quantity for use as well as inspection of hens for evidence of production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare for insemination process by equipment set up such as: funnel/tip collection, bird platform, step stool, microscope/densimeter, etc. (10%)

Retrieval and meticulous processing of males to collect semen and inverting females to inseminate (35%)

Replace males based on fertility numbers/ or mortality. Inspection of females for evidence of production. (10%)

Utilize microscope/densimeter to determine semen quality; utilize visual to determine semen quantity (10%)

Other duties, responsibilities, and activities;

Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as: washing/disinfection vehicles; sanitize AI breakroom; trim beaks/vents; properly euthanize selected or weak/ill birds in accordance with company policy. Farming out to other areas during down time. (35%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:

The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering on-site and changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the job site except medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Will occasionally lift and/or move, using two Team Members, up to 80 pounds to move items such as bird coops. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor, shavings); use hands to handle or feel objects and controls (mandatory hand stretching exercises); reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; stoop/bend repeatedly; wrist movement with pipettes; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex. Specific vision abilities required by the job include meticulous close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.

Tools and Equipment: Catch frames, carts, micro pipettor, microscope and densimeter.

Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also work in hot, dry, extreme dusty, wet and cold environments.

Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety goggles and/or glasses, chemical gloves, wrist compression gloves, safety glasses and company issued footwear are required. Ear plugs will be used as needed.

Chemicals Commonly Used: Disinfectants such as Synergize, Virocid, Clorox Wipes, Bleach, hand sanitizer, Lysol, etc.

Safety: Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. Team member is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.

During the current Pandemic (2020), all Team Members will be required to wear company issued facial coverings. Training will be provided to each Team Member specific to their job and their facility location in addition to signing an acknowledgement form they understand these expectations.

It is considered an essential function of each job for a Team Member to wear the company issued facial coverings. If a Team Member indicates they cannot will not wear the mask, they will not be considered for the position in which they are applying or any position that requires the facial covering. If a Team Member has a medical condition or disability that prevents them from wearing the mask, TysonCobb will engage in a interactive process to determine whether a reasonable accommodation can be provided that addresses the safety concerns associated with the Pandemic and allow the Team Member to perform the essential functions of the job.
