General Liability Maritime Associate Attorney

A law firm in Miami, FL, is seeking a General Liability (Maritime) Associate Attorney with 2+ years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in general liability and maritime law, demonstrating exceptional skills in litigation, research, and writing. The position requires a proactive approach to managing complex legal matters, including case analysis, trial preparation, and client representation.

Duties:

• Conduct thorough file reviews and legal analysis of claims and causes of action.
• Perform extensive legal research and draft substantial legal documents, including briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs.
• Represent clients regularly in court, at arbitrations, and during depositions.
• Draft and respond to discovery requests with accuracy and timeliness.
• Manage expert witness retention and collaborate with experts as needed.
• Prepare for and attend trials, ensuring meticulous case preparation and strategy.
• Achieve an annual billable requirement of 1950 hours.
• Some travel may be required for client meetings, depositions, and court appearances.

Requirements:

• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school.
• Admission to practice in the State of Florida; admission in additional states is a plus.
• 2+ years of experience in general liability and maritime law.
• Demonstrated experience in litigation, including trial preparation and representation.
• Proven ability to conduct legal research and draft legal documents effectively.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong research abilities and excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Solid work ethic, self-management capability, and ability to work well in a team environment.
• Excellent client interaction skills and telephone manner.
