The candidate will be responsible for the provision of legal advice regarding various legal matters of The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Health System Corporation (“JHHS”) and its affiliates. It includes responsibility for the interpretation of laws and regulations specific to assigned practice group. This position also provides support to the General Counsel and the Deputy General Counsel, as needed. Success in the position requires the recognition and understanding of relevant legal principles and restrictions, as well as the ability to understand, articulate, and incorporate strategic and tactical considerations which are consistent with and further the interests of JHHS and its tri-part mission. A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Continuing legal education involving legal seminars, review and study of legal periodicals and review of judicial decisions and legislative enactments and pronouncements. A minimum of zero (0) to five (5) years of experience at the Bar. Clinical degree/experience is preferred. Member in good standing of the Maryland Bar or Bar of another jurisdiction and eligible to become licensed to practice in Maryland or Florida. Requires a professional level of knowledge of legal practices and procedures. Knowledge of federal, state, and local statutes and regulations which affect the assigned practice group for a health care provider. Analytical legal skills and drafting skills. Excellent negotiation and advocacy skills. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in an effective and appropriate manner in a variety of situations, demonstrated interpersonal skills, and ability to effectively advise and interact with internal clients at all levels of the organization. Ability to manage effectively a very high volume of work. Ability to give clear direction and oversight to support staff. Ability to draft documentation of substantial complexity. Ability and willingness to learn new areas of the law. Professional level of knowledge of Joint Commission standards and other regulatory bodies including the FDA. Familiarity with various appropriate laws as it relates to clinical operations (e.g., health care, family, criminal, privacy, ). Knowledge of medical terminology. Analytic and clinical ability required to identify risk issues and compliance with standard of care from medical record review and/or interviews with clinical staff.
