Assistant Dean - Assistant Dean for Diversity

Duties: Work with institutional leaders in shaping and leading the Medical School as it embraces and fosters a culture of diversity as fundamental to institutional excellence. Serve as champion and guide the college on matters of equity, inclusion and diversity. Serving as chief medical school spokesperson for diversity and inclusion, develop a common vision for an inclusive climate at the Dell Medical School and outline steps to realize the vision including the identification of benchmarks to measure progress. Bring leadership, vision, integrity, and team-oriented philosophy to diversity and inclusion efforts including recruitment, selection, and appointment of students, faculty and staff. Act as liaison for the Dean between Office of the Provost, deans, department chairs, program directors, departmental personnel, primary affiliated institutions, and the public. Engage in an insightful and suitably nuanced dialogue with senior leadership about diversity realities and possibilities for an inclusive climate. Develop, lead, and oversee the shaping and execution of diversity as a resource that enhances learning for students, residents and institutional excellence. Implement workshops, presentations, learning modules and other strategies that promote diversity, equity and inclusion. Offer guidance on matters related to enhancing cultural competency initiatives. Guide senior leadership discussion regarding policy and program initiatives in diversity. Educate constituents (internal/external) on value of an inclusive campus. Assess effectiveness of diversity and inclusion initiatives and recommend appropriate adjustments that are proactive and responsive. Identify adequate resources to achieve diversity and inclusion goals including the alignment of a realistic budget.
