Job Description Summary:
The site certified industrial health specialist will have expertise in industrial hygiene including all aspects of chemical, biological, and physical hazards including injury & illness prevention, ergonomics, radiation safety, occupational health, chemical management etc. and will support the Huntsville, AL site. This role is physically located in the Huntsville, AL GEA site. The site CIH will provide leadership, coaching, and technical support across all functions to improve the overall health and safety of our employees. As such, a key function will be to develop, implement, and drive continuous improvement strategies in EHS while ensuring all relevant federal, state, local, and company standards are met. The right candidate will have experience in a process safety management regulated business, provide support as a CIH to oversee all functions of industrial hygiene within the Huntsville, AL site, and will work closely with the value stream industrial hygiene focal.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may impact work.
Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operations, product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering. Uses internal and external resources as needed to help arrive at a decision or path forward.
Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders to assist in developing recommendations.
Will lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts to educate others with the intent of helping them see a different point of view.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years industrial health Experience)
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in manufacturing, industrial, or related environment
Demonstrated industrial application as a Board for Global EHS Credentialing Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
Desired Characteristics:
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in industrial hygiene, biology, chemistry, engineering, or physics
5-years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or related environment.
Good understanding of: lean principles, ergonomics, injury management, emergency response, etc.
Knowledgeable on OSHA Subpart Z health standards
Experience in leading medical clinic personnel
Ability lead, plan, document, and execute programs/projects
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
Strong oral and written communication skills.
