Assistant General Counsel
Duties: Provide legal support to entities in Latin America. Support new registrations and office openings. Assist in banking and tax matters. Review grants, sub-agreements and select contracts. Conduct country-level investigations. Assist in ensuring compliance with country office board governance. . Draft and/or review grants, sub-grants & contracts. Draft and/or review agency grants, sub-grants and contracts. Assist Contracting Officer in preparing and presenting trainings on contract review submissions. Support agency risk management. Assist in global and domestic insurance planning and execution. Advise agency on coverage needs. Intellectual Property. Inventory intellectual property (IP) holdings. Advise on best means of protecting and, where appropriate, monetizing IP. Register trademarks and other IP globally where appropriate. Undertake legal research. Assist in drafting of policies and procedures to communicate policies in plain language. Advise on laws and regulations that impact HIAS. Advise HIAS departments and entities on legal issues and procedures. Interact with affiliates, vendors and clients, as necessary. Contribute to strategic litigation efforts, as assigned.
