Assistant Program Specialist

The 1199SEIU Training & Employment Funds provide education and job training programs for over 40,000 unionized workers represented by 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East.  Our mission is to develop high quality training, placement and labor-management initiatives.  We also aim to develop the ability of union and management to problem-solve difficult issues and to create innovative healthcare solutions.

If you’re ready for the brightest career future, join us in this excellent opportunity to showcase your talents.  We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Program Specialist for our Adult Education department. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide programmatic and administrative support to the Program Manager and Assistant Director of the Adult Education department
  • Schedule members for classes, arrange class logistics (classroom space, equipment, books and materials); coordinate with instructors, and organize all logistical aspects of computer and technology-driven programs
  • Complete and submit required paperwork on a timely basis, and report processes and procedures for tracking member progress, including ensuring that protocols for attendance and instructional activities are followed
  • Monitor and track program expenses, and program outcomes using Microsoft Excel and the internal tracking database
  • Provide quality customer service to members, as well as accurate and timely information about the program, department and the Fund
  • Facilitate the organization of documents and learning resources in different formats
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management
  • Must meet performance standards including attendance and punctuality

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; College Degree preferred
  • Minimum three years administrative experience required; preferably in a general office or adult learning environment
  • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
  • Knowledge of databases such as Microsoft Access, social media and online learning platforms preferred
  • Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail; ability to facilitate multiple activities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work both independently and as a team player
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to work under deadline pressure
