What's the role?

The Pennzoil and Quaker State (PQS) Associate Brand Manager supports the strategic brand and media priorities of two leading commercial road brands in North America. As an Associate Brand Manager and brand steward, you will be responsible for supporting and activating the brands internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities include:

Strategic Brand Management - Consistently reinforcing the brand vision, strategy, communication hierarchy, visual identity and managing compelling competitive differentiation. Leveraging consumer and customer insights and a strong knowledge of market dynamics to competitively position the brands for the energy transition and progress Pennzoil and Quaker State strategic ambitions.

Brand Planning and Agency Management – Supports the 3-year strategic plan and leads specific initiatives to support the annual owned, earned and paid 360-degree marketing brand plan across 6 integrated agencies. Activities include supporting the briefing, planning, launch, activation and post investment review process. Helps to activate a cohesive brand plan and collaborates across a large, cross-functional team of internal and external stakeholders. This role will rely heavily on your ability to heavily influence teams and stakeholders without direct management hierarchy and working closely with an integrated agency team.

Media Campaign & Communications – project manager supporting ATL (Above the Line) activities across a multi-million dollar budget managing creative production, asset development and paid media management. You will support the creative production process and help facilitate a strong end-to-end consumer experience across media channels. This role is responsible for utilizing marketing intelligence to regularly measure campaign effectiveness and identify opportunities for continual optimization. This role is also responsible for coordinating, routing and activating brand press releases and facilitating media outreach to drive earned media exposure.

Integrated Marketing Communications & Content management – This role requires strong communication skills, digital marketing proficiency and creativity to effectively develop content which is contextually relevant to the medium and engaging for the target audience. Supports content requests which may include BTL (Below the Line) assets, customer-specific programs and sales collateral materials. Requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams including agencies, channel managers, agencies, technology, legal, and subject matter experts to fully produce effective and brand approved materials.

Portfolio management and Customer Value Proposition (CVP) programs – This role will be the project lead to ensure an effective launch of many strategic initiatives, portfolio updates, new product introductions, and new/enhanced CVP programs across Pennzoil and Quaker State. This role will also help to develop claims and substantiation for new brand messaging and work across internal stakeholders to bring new claims to life.

Brand Performance Management – responsible for developing and sustaining the brand scorecard which relentlessly focuses on brand financial performance, budget management, brand health measurements, market share, Marketing Mix Modeling, and other critical Key Performance Indicators. You will help to ensure strong ROI against all brand investments and continually optimize the plan.

Having a commercial-mindset and strong financial acumen will be key to success in this role. Additionally, your ability to manage many senior stakeholders, both internally and externally, will be critical. In this role it will be important that you can work collaboratively with cross functional teams. Your natural curiosity for the business will help you to develop creative solutions to challenges.

Skills and Requirements

What we need from you -

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

Bachelor's Degree required and a Master’s Degree is preferred

At least seven (7) years’ experience in Brand Management, Digital Marketing, Marketing Communications or Relevant experience required

Extensive history of commercial experience in Marketing/Sales with thorough knowledge of the 4 P’s of marketing (product, placement, price, promotion) and a proven track record of successfully growing brands and exceeding volume and profitability targets

Able to work independently and with limited supervision, highly self-motivated and able to effectively manage various competing priorities.
