Fast paced, International Industrial Manufacturing company is GROWING! A Quality Engineer position has been added. Not only will you be overseeing the quality department, you will be the right-hand person to the Quality Manager. Your background in Industrial engineering/castings and industrial pump production will have you training others in ISO procedures, working with the design team and potentially traveling overseas for client meetings. You need to be a superstar in the field of quality and have future goals that go beyond the shop floor.

Summary:

The primary function of this role is to support the Quality Manager, all quality systems and functions by driving continuous improvement and activities related to minimizing the costs of non-conformance. Support operations by identifying process improvement opportunities within manufacturing. Work with supervisory and support teams to participate and lead root cause and corrective action events to correct any process failings and drive improvement in quality and productivity.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Mechanical, Industrial Engineering preferred.

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Minimum of two (2) years of combined experience working in a product, quality, engineering and/or Six Sigma environment

Minimum of one (1) year experience in a manufacturing environment

Knowledge of various quality system methodologies 8D, Lean, 5 Why’s, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma, PFEMA, PPAP, etc.

Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office applications.

Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes, drawing interpretation & specifications, GD&T, etc.

Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing and the ability to travel

Strong organizational skills.

Knowledge of CMM layout techniques and various quality system methodologies 8D, Lean, 5 Why’s, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma, PFEMA, PPAP, etc. preferred.

Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, work well with diverse groups of people and be able to function independently of direct supervision.

Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing and the ability to travel.

Preferred:

Experience deploying industry specific quality system requirements such as; ISO9001, AISC

Experience leading internal and external audit corrective action resolutions

Working knowledge of Epicor IT solutions for Quality

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Broad understanding and application of statistics and risk assessment tools

Test method development and validation experience

Lean Six Sigma experience, leading Green Belt or Black Belt projects

New Product Introduction (NPI) project experience

Quality Engineering Certification through ASQ.org

Excellent attention to detail and process/system oriented

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Team member representing quality and assuring quality in all department teams.

Leader or team member of quality improvement projects to reduce costs and reduce customer complaints.

Assessing and validating test methods and performing root cause analysis studies.

Assuring compliance to internal procedures and external customer requirements and regulations.

Representing the customer, evaluating customer complaints and issues, samples and trends, and determining the necessary action plans.

Leading Corrective Action Requests and Prevention Action (CAR’s), Risk Management, Quality at the Source and Customer Quality Index initiatives and deployment.

Assisting deployment of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodology to control Key Process Indicators (KPI).

Using statistical techniques to create sampling plans and execute data analysis

Developing new test methods and execute test method validations for new and existing products.

Participating in internal/external quality system and process audits.

Providing change management oversight from the quality function to ensure adequate training and/or qualification of changes to assigned products and processes.

Providing support to Design and Manufacturing Engineering team.
