Interim Director of Human Resources
Responsibilities: Maintains and promotes the established principles, practices, and procedures as defined by system and university policies; develops policies and programs, when appropriate, to effectively manage human resources to include programs for employee relations and employee complaints; develops and oversees new employee orientation programs to facilitate awareness of company mission and foster positive relationship between the employee and the university; develops diversity programs to allow the university to embrace applicants and employees of all backgrounds and to permit full development and performance of all employees; collaborates with management staff to assess training needs of the university and develops and conducts various Human Resources training programs to ensure management staff throughout the university has the knowledge required to comply with all applicable laws and regulations; assists in the development of training and development programs; consults with the General Counsel and Office of Attorney General, as appropriate, on personnel issues and policies to ensure compliance with federal and state law; serves on negotiation and labor management teams and provides labor relations training and advice; represents the university on the formal grievance process and provides support and representation in employee disciplinary matters and terminations; assists and researches problems and recommends solutions within approved policies and procedures using independent judgement and discretion as appropriate; conducts supervisory training as needed; manages ethics compliance; oversees the maintenance of employee personnel records and HR information; facilitates the continued improvement of all employee handbooks, employment manuals, and policies and procedures manuals as needed; provides counsel and guidelines to management for all human resources issues; and serves as the resource to employees for the interpretation of polices. Performs other related duties as assigned.
