Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking an experienced Immigration Attorney to join its dynamic team in Houston. This position offers an exciting opportunity to handle a diverse range of immigration cases while working in a collaborative and growth-oriented environment. As part of the firm’s legal team, the Immigration Attorney will be responsible for representing clients in removal proceedings, preparing immigration applications, and developing case strategies.

Duties:

  • Provide strategic immigration guidance and legal advice to clients
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage a caseload, ensuring all cases are progressing efficiently
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers
  • Prepare and file various immigration petitions, including family-based immigration and removal defense
  • Review and revise immigration application packets for accuracy and completeness
  • Work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to stay informed of changes in immigration laws
  • Meet with prospective clients to evaluate cases and determine the best course of action
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for USCIS or court appearances
  • Provide legal analysis to identify potential benefits or avenues for clients' cases
  • Draft and submit legal briefs in support of a variety of immigration cases

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1-4 years of experience practicing Immigration Law
  • Strong ability to manage a full caseload and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to drive legal cases forward, ensuring client satisfaction
  • Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, detained individuals, and USCIS applications
  • Knowledge of case management software is preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Admitted to practice law in the state of Texas

Certifications:

  • Texas State Bar membership is required

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Legal research and analytical skills
  • Client relations and case management
  • Familiarity with immigration law, including EOIR and USCIS procedures
  • Detail-oriented and organized
