The Director of Compliance will be the architect and steward of Samuel’s enterprise compliance program with a specific focus on developing policies and procedures relating the Samuel’s government and defense business. Based in Chicago and reporting to the General Counsel, the Director of Compliance will manage a team in Chicago and will also work closely with Samuel’s executive management team, board of directors and internal audit team to develop, plan, implement and monitor Samuel’s compliance program with particular focus on Samuel’s operations in regulated industries, including aerospace, defense and government contracting.This is an important leadership role. The Director of Compliance will be expected to coach, teach and guide his/her team and colleagues across the enterprise as Samuel continues to build its compliance program.The Director of Compliance is expected to operate independently on a day-to-day basis. Direction is often received only at the most conceptual level, requiring the role to conduct considerable research to develop the parameters of an issue before strategies to respond are developed.A very high level of autonomy is required, with the Director of Compliance required to exercise judgment to balance the necessity of timely responses to pressing issues with the requirement to support the interests of business stakeholders while ensuring compliance with the regulatory regime and ensuring overall protection from the reputational risk associated with non-compliance.The Director of Compliance will play an integral role in promoting a culture of ethical leadership and compliance.
