Vice President, Labor / Employee Relations, and Compliance
The candidate will lead a team responsible for providing guidance on and directly handling employee relations matters with a focus on balancing business need and organizational risk, assisting in the design of employee related policies that are compliant with the law and align to best practices, managing complaints, and cultivating a positive and productive work environment. Will serve as a senior strategist and advisor regarding labor and employee relations working closely with HR, Legal and the business to develop short-term and long-range plans. Will report directly to the DCSA Senior Vice President, Human Resources. Responsible for coaching and inspiring a team to deliver consultation, guidance and support in labor and employee relations matters ranging from basic to complex or high risk. Serve as the HR expert on ethics and compliance reviews, using lean/sigma mindset to establish a standard approach to case review and issue mitigation with executive leadership. Responsible for implementing comprehensive labor relations strategy and promoting a collaborative and mutually beneficial relationship between our organization and unions. Engage as primary partner to HR, Legal and the business for union contract negotiations, and serve as the subject matter expert around union contract interpretation. Respond to and investigate employee complaints submitted directly to HR or through the Company’s Ethics Hotline. Design, enhance and increase standard documentation / inventorying of employee related policies that are compliant with federal, state and local laws. Stay abreast of all relevant changes to such laws and update the Employee Handbook as needed. Act as key point person to respond to policy questions, provide clarification on labor and employee relations processes, and communicate policy updates to the appropriate audience. Partner with Leave Coordinators, HRBPs, and managers on leaves and accommodations issues. Work with HRBPs, Legal and managers on discipline and termination issues. Assist with the development and facilitation of labor, employee relations and diversity, inclusion and equity related training. Programmatic co-ownership (with Legal) of anonymous reporting tool for workplace issues. Steward EEO, OFCCP and FLSA reporting and audits.
