Labor and Employment Counsel
The candidate will proactively provide strategic legal counsel on a broad range of labor and employment related matters. Including, but not limited to, human resources issues, wage and hour law, workers’ compensation, unemployment and other state agency claims, labor relations, employee benefits, employment agreements and policy-related issues, FMLA. ADA, FLSA, OSHA, ERISA, state Worker’s Compensation and Employment discrimination laws, employment-related litigation, grievances and arbitrations and generally assists the General Counsel, Labor Relations and Human Resources Department. Draft, review, and provide input on policies and procedures. Recognize when to elevate certain matters to the attention of the General Counsel. Educate clients and stakeholders on legal matters, policies, and procedures. Establish and maintain relationships, credibility, and trust with clients, stakeholders, legal team members, and other colleagues. Monitor legislation, regulations, case law, and government enforcement activities relating to labor and employment/benefits areas, and provide proactive, strategic advice to the HR team. Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by the General Counsel.
