Legislative and Regulatory Counsel
The candidate will draft, circulate, and socialize draft bills and regulations amongst interested parties (both internal and external) for internal consensus and to determine impact. Develop and identify supportive coalition partners related to issue advocacy and lobbying. Prepare ALLPAC and/or corporate contribution budgets. Negotiate with government agencies. Review and analyze draft Report on Examination and prepare response to draft reports related to Market Conduct Examinations and other regulatory inquiries. Serve on strategy, implementation and compliance project teams as needed to provide counsel and legal advice. Determine and implement strategy for resolving compliance issues (e.g., engagement with DOI and/or Legislative and Regulatory Counsel). 7 or more years of related experience. Juris doctorate and a license to practice law within the State of Colorado. Computer skills including MS Office suite. Has relevant experience within a reputable law firm or an in-house legal department for a mid to large sized organization. Insurance-industry experience. Knowledge of legal holds and discovery processes, Budget management skills, Project management skills and law firm/vendor management experience, Intermediate legal and business knowledge. Intermediate analytical skills.
