Serve as an expert resource for employees and management with regards to positive union labor relations, salaried employee relations, and projects furthering organizational objectives. Provide participative leadership of two HR professionals. The HR team is responsibilities for recruiting, on-boarding, employee benefits administration, performance management, training, and employee relations. Typical employee population of up to 500 employees with the majority of those located at the company\u2019s largest chemical manufacturing plant along with HR support for a small remote office housing our global engineering employees.
Advise management concerning employment/labor law, interpret company policies, and participate in the decision-making process concerning corrective actions and/or employee performance and behavior issues.
Be an advisor and coach to the Plant Manager and leadership team regarding their own leadership skills and the development of future leaders.
Develop recruitment strategies to support staffing and employment goals and insure tracking and applicant flow data are properly maintained for information and compliance.
Counsel and advise employees on HR issues to include information on benefits, pay practices, performance management, personnel issues, relocation, etc.
Facilitate leadership consensus on performance management, succession planning, and merit increase processes.
Ensures compliance with employment-related laws and regulations.
Initiate and develop projects or tasks to support company HR initiatives including the development and administration of employment related training programs.
Ensure maintenance of various employee/employment related programs such as random substance abuse testing and service award programs, performance management and advisor programs.
Responsible for insuring that the site maintains a positive labor/management environment and initiatives to improve labor relations and fairly administer the union contract are carried out in an effective and timely manner.
Responsible for leading union contract negotiations and developing a negotiation strategy with input from the site leadership team.
Bachelor\u2019s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Demonstrated strong HR leadership and advanced knowledge and understanding of employment related laws and regulations typically obtained by working in an HR specialist, generalist, or supervisor role for more than 7 years.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
SPHR or equivalent certification.
Experience developing and/or presenting employee training along with assessing training needs in an organization.
Labor relations experience including diplomatic win-win problem resolution, handling of grievances, assisting with arbitrations, and leading contract negotiations.
Knowledge and use of the most up-to-date recruitment and hiring methods
Knowledge of employment-related compliance issues.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships across all levels of the organization.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, presentation, negotiation and customer service skills.
Ability to operate with the highest level of integrity.
Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and tolerate multiple work interruptions.
Possess strong problem identification and problem-solving skills as well as effective conflict resolution skills.
Ability to handle sensitive confidential personal employee information.
