Job Title: Litigation Attorney

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm located in San Francisco, CA, known for its commitment to public sector legal representation, is currently seeking a Litigation Associate to join its expanding team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex matters involving public entities in both state and federal courts. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of litigation experience, critical thinking, and a collaborative approach to case strategy, preparation, and resolution. Flexible work arrangements are available, with the expectation of residing in or relocating to the Bay Area to support in-person proceedings.

Duties:

• Handle a high-volume litigation caseload with minimal oversight

• Conduct comprehensive legal research and develop case strategies

• Draft pleadings, discovery requests/responses, motions, and legal briefs

• Represent clients in court proceedings, depositions, mediations, and trials

• Collaborate with internal legal teams to promote efficient case handling

• Maintain and develop professional relationships with clients throughout case lifecycles

Requirements:

• Licensed to practice law in California

• Between 1-7 years of litigation experience, preferably in a public entity or civil defense

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines

• Strong written and verbal advocacy skills

• Proficiency in legal research tools and case management systems

• Experience in trial preparation or courtroom appearances is advantageous

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active membership in the State Bar of California

Skills:

• Strong legal writing and analytical reasoning

• Effective communication with clients, colleagues, and court personnel

• High degree of professionalism and discretion

• Organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable to shifting priorities

• San Francisco, CA (Hybrid/Remote options available with Bay Area residency or relocation required)
