Insurance Coverage Associate Attorney

Profile

Wade & Lowe is seeking an attorney with 3-5 years of experience in insurance coverage analysis and litigation. We are looking for an excellent writer with strong analytical and research skills who is proactive with their assigned caseload, is comfortable managing their cases independently, and who has an interest in working on a wide range of insurance coverage issues.

Our firm represents insurance carriers in matters of insurance coverage with regards to general and automobile liability policies.

Responsibilities and requirements

• Analyze insurance policies, draft coverage opinions and provide coverage advice and recommendations to clients;
• Conduct legal research and prepare memorandums with analysis, and analysis of legal issues for clients and senior colleagues;
• Prepare responses to subpoenas on behalf of carriers that are in compliance with applicable privacy laws and regulations;
• Prepare settlement and release agreements on short notice;
• Prepare responses to preservation of evidence requests on behalf of carriers and attend scheduled inspections;
• Draft and review pleadings, briefs, discovery, and motion work for variety of carrier specific issues;
• Prepare formal correspondence to respond to contention letters and policy limit demands;
• Attend hearings, mediations, mandatory settlement conferences and trials as required.

Education and Experience

• Excellent academic credentials;
• Admitted to practice in California;
• Ideally 3-5 years of experience advising in insurance coverage matters or insurance coverage litigation;
• Experience with personal and commercial liability;
• Experience with automobile insurance policies.

Skills and Abilities Required

• Excellent legal research, writing and verbal communication skills;
• Strong organizational and time management skills;
• Ability to handle matters of a highly sensitive nature;
• Ability to handle time sensitive matters, sometimes several simultaneously;
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects;
• Ability to identify and resolve problems quickly.
