Join us.\u00A0The role at a glance:\u00A0The Visualization Director's primary focus is raising the bar for better visualization in support of better design across the firm. The three primary goals for the team and its leader are: Lead strategic approach for investigation and testing of new tools and workflows that have the potential to significantly enhance our capabilities. Establish workflows to ensure consistent, high-quality visuals for all project teams Explore visualization efficiencies and opportunities within the firmThe Visualization Director will need to inspire and lead a group of leaders embedded within the different studios. As NBBJ\u2019s work takes many forms Lighting, Landscape, Experience Design, Consulting and of course architecture, this leader will need to empathetically engage with multiple groups to understand how they work and collaborate closely with their visualization team members who have existing expertise in each practice.\u00A0Our ideal candidate will be based in the Los Angeles area; however, we are open to candidates located in one of our other cities of operation.Why this role is important to NBBJ:\u00A0Visualization touches nearly everything we do as a design firm. Quality visuals help us to communicate our design intent, tell stories, understand space, build consensus, and convey powerful ideas. As the leader of the visualization team, you will provide strategic guidance to a distributed group of experts to elevate the visualization capabilities of designers across the firmIn your new role, you will:\u00A0 Lead a team of visualization experts embedded with architectural studios Work with design leaders to understand and develop firmwide visualization goals and help build capabilities to meet the needs Explore new and innovative tools that have the potential to impact our project teams\u2019 capabilities Develop consistent visualization workflows that align with project team needs and existing design workflows Develop processes to ensure all project teams are producing quality graphics Lead the development of a basic skills training program for every new and existing designer Work closely with design leads to understand the story they need to communicate graphically Work closely with project teams to streamline communication with external vendors / contractors Collect, organize, and share high quality visualization assets Meet with users to understand pain points, evaluate skills and identify strategic opportunitiesWhat you will need to succeed:\u00A0 Understanding of the architectural design and delivery process 5 years of experience leading/managing a team in a technical capacity Highly developed organizational and communication skills A passion for piloting new tools and developing standardized workflows Tenacity and persistence to consistently follow up and check in with leaders Enthusiasm for training and developing skills in others Comfortable speaking in front of large and small groups Develop budgets and guide a team to work within them Understanding of the intricacies of a variety of different types of visuals and when each is appropriate: Animations, Data Visualization, VR, AR, Static Renders, Diagrams, etc. Proficient or Knowledgeable in some combination of the below software/platforms 3d modeling:\u00A0Rhino, Revit, Sketchup Real Time Rendering:\u00A0Enscape, Twin Motion, Lumion Other Rendering:\u00A0Vray, D5, Octane, Redshift Game Engines, VR/AR:\u00A0Unreal, Unity, Apple (ARKit) Animation:\u00A0C4D, Maya, Houdini Post Processing / Compositing:\u00A0Adobe suite, Affinity suite, NukeShow don\u2019t TellWork samples will be key in selecting the right candidate for this role. Ideally candidates will present a range of samples in multiple formats: Animations, Data Visualization, VR, AR, Static Renders, Diagrams, etc. Please be prepared to talk about the tools and workflows used by your team to create each output.
